Drawing and painting
has been a part of my life since the time that I was 3 feet high
and colored on the hallway walls with crayons and
my mother made me wash it off. I couldn't understand why my mom
didn't like my handy-work, but I do remember that it was a work
of art.
To this day I still color. Even on trips my colors go everywhere
with me. My children think that I have to pack them a color bag when
we go places only because I pack a big coloring bag for myself.
I've dabbled in
other mediums such as ceramic sculpture, and pottery. Even with
the clay, the coloring of whatever piece that I am working
on is very important to me and I love the look of movement if not
in the clay; then with the glazes and paints that I use.
Born, raised,
and graduate from St. Paul Kansas, I sought my art degree from
Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg Kansas. It then
move to Ohio where I continued my education at Kent State and Muskingum
College. After four years in Ohio I decided to move back t a little
familiar are and ended up in Southwest Missouri. I currently teach
at Carthage High School where I get to express my arts with students.
Watching them grow with their talents is very rewarding. I've shown
my work at Kachilla Art Center (Ohio), Chanute Art Gallery (Kansas,
Barton County Art Gallery, Spiva Art Gallery and Art Central all
in Missouri. |
