Linda Beckham has a BS in Art Education from MSSU and taught art for 13 years in Joplin. She mostly paints with watercolor but occasionally will use colored pencil or pastel.
"For me art is the challenge of capturing the light and shadows on a canvas whether it is a landscape, portrait, or still life. I love to hike and I am interested in every tree, flower, or bird I see as well as in awe of the grandness of a natural setting. This is reflected in my inclination to paint rural landscapes.
I paint on a gessoed board so I can use a sealant on the finished painting and eliminate the need to cover it with glass that distracts from the artwork. I've also been experimenting with gouache watercolors and India ink that produces extreme contrasts."
