Paula Giltner is currently artist-in-residence at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. She has created commissioned and award-winning fine art for over 30 years including murals, portraits, architectural rendering, illustration, design and decorative painting. Her medium of choise is watercolor, although she uses other media for each one's own effectiveness. Her realistic landscapes, animals, architectureral and human subjects are skillfully portrayed with mood and intrigue, and saturated with color. Paula's work may be seen in the Koka Art Gallery in Carthage, MO and the Rose Gallery in Joplin, MO as well as all around campus at OCC.
"For me, art is a way to appreciate and describe the beauty of God's creation. I enjoy the challenge of using different media to create a certain mood, and also enjoy the endless possibilities of design. Although creating my own art appeals to me, over the years I have come to welcome the commissioned art opportunity. Putting someone else's ideas down on canvas or paper stretches my mind beyond my own thoughts and impressions, and teaches me a level of discipline I wouldn't have otherwise reached."
